May is a Life Member of the BATD. She was originally trained by the Famous Bobby Cuthbertson and later by Andrew Sutherland and for many years danced with the Lanarkshire Scottish Country Dance Competition Team. May was a noted trophy winner at Highland Games including two Cowal championships. Having been a Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing Adjudicator over many years, she travelled both here in the UK and overseas judging competitions and championships. An authority on Highland dress, May was a consultant with Hector Russell Highland Industries trading in Scotland and overseas.
