The SOBHD is saddened to hear that Mrs Dell Hill of Edmonton, Alberta passed away on November 25th, 2015. The following is a tribute from Miss Nancy Hays.
“Another wonderful, creative soul has left our world. Mrs Dell Hill of Edmonton, Alberta passed away on November 25th, 2015 at the age of 96. She was such an inspiration to every one of her students and all who crossed her path. Her enthusiasm knew no bounds and her love for dance was evident in every student she taught. If Mrs Hill had been teaching over the last 10 or 20 years, one could not readily measure the extent of her accomplishments. Mrs Hill didn’t count trophies nor winners nor championships. She counted dedication, practice, excellence and progress. When any of those measures produced competitive success, that would simply be a by-product of her true goal – to engender the love for highland dance in her students that she herself had nurtured all of her life.
Mrs Hill was, for me, the best highland dancing teacher in the world. I loved her to bits and I value and appreciate everything she did for me. She played a huge part in my life for which I will be forever grateful. I shall miss her very much indeed. Rest in Peace, Mrs Peace Idell Hill”.
