The Big Commonwealth Dance – Beats for Peace

As part of The Big Dance Weekend (12 – 13 July 2014) and to mark the closing of the first ever Commonwealth Youth Dance Festival (10 – 12 July 2014), this major dance commission by internationally renowned choreographer Rafael Bonachela will take place in Buchanan Street, Glasgow.

Get Scotland Dancing and Big Dance are looking for 2014 dancers to take part in this exciting global site-specific event which connects three international cities – London, Glasgow and Sydney in celebration of the Commonwealth Games and to create a new dance film.

This is a great opportunity for self-managed dance groups to learn a set piece of choreography (approx. 5 minutes) and be part of this high profile large-scale performance.

The rehearsal process has to be managed independently by each group or by individuals in advance. The call time for Glasgow is on 12 July at 21:15 at Buchanan Street (outside the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall).

Get Scotland Dancing and Big Dance are keen to hear from well-organised groups of dancers – any style welcome (14+ years) – you could be a youth dance company, school dance group or simply friends dancing together.

Register your group on Eventbrite now and be part of the fun!
